  12. XANTHUS HIRES DAVID PETER AS VP OF SALES FOR NORTH AMERICA

  16. Stockholm, June 15, 1994 - Xanthus International AB today announced
  17. it has hired David Peter, formerly of HSD as its new Executive Vice
  18. President of Sales for North America. Mr. Peter will be responsible
  19. for all Xanthus operations in the U.S. and will be working out of
  20. the company's' new office located in San Diego, California.

  22. Mr. Peter was founder and President of HSD Microcomputer U.S. Inc.,
  23. another well know developer of products for NEXTSTEP. Founded in
  24. 1989, HSD quickly became one of the largest developers of NEXTSTEP
  25. software and peripherals. Mr. Peter said "I'm extremely excited
  26. about building the Xanthus organization in the U.S. Xanthus will
  27. offer an entire suite of mainstream applications that are ideally
  28. suited for the large customers that are deploying NEXTSTEP."

  30. President and co-founder of Xanthus, Jesper Lundh said "We're
  31. excited to have David on board. He's well known, and well respected
  32. within the NEXTSTEP community, and has just the skillset we were
  33. looking for to expand operations in North America."

  35. At NEXTSTEP Expo, Xanthus will introduce Questor 3.0, OpenWrite
  36. and Open Object Embedding (OOE). OpenWrite is a powerful new word
  37. processor that includes all the features expected in a high-end
  38. word processor, and many features found only in high-end desktop
  39. publishing applications, such as character kerning, tracking and
  40. free-floating text blocks. OpenWrite also supports all of the
  41. advanced features of NEXTSTEP, such as object linking and a robust
  42. API, as well as the new OOE standard from Xanthus. OOE is a new
  43. compound document standard from Xanthus that allows objects (drawings,
  44. graphs, tables, worksheets etc.) in a 'client application' document
  45. (like a word processor document) to be edited by the correct 'server
  46. application' (drawing program, spreadsheet application etc.) in a
  47. seamless manner.

  49. Commenting about new Open Object Embedding (OOE) standard from
  50. Xanthus, Lundh said, "All of Xanthus' products take advantage of
  51. the new OOE standard and have been dubbed the Xanthus Open Office
  52. product suite. "The level of integration of these applications,
  53. actually pre-empts the [Apple] OpenDoc standard - it's here today".
